“Things That Make You Go Hmm” – Part 2

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , on December 9, 2008 by Dankku

I’ve never liked Coldplay. Their new stuff is on the radio all the time and it’s not particularly interesting or even that good. (Pop music died along time ago and I can’t see it getting better.)

I just saw this, and now I dislike Coldplay even more.
This is blasphemy!

The Story Of Stuff

Posted in Uncategorized with tags on November 29, 2008 by Dankku

We all need things, that’s understandable…

You need new shoes because you’ve had the old ones for three years. Go buy yourself a new pair, I won’t blame you. You need new shoes because fat heels are not “in” anymore and you go buy yourself a new pair, then get the fuck out of my face.

I hate stuff, and I can’t stand people getting stuff just for the sake of getting stuff.

This is the story of stuff.

Goodbye cruel (blog) world!

Posted in Uncategorized with tags on September 3, 2008 by Dankku

Well, now, don’t get scared. I’m not saying goodbye forever, only for a little while. I’ve decided I’m going to step off this blog ladder since it seems I can’t get any higher with the way I’m going. It doesn’t matter what I write about: personal issues, politics, films or books or whatever. I don’t get anything out of this anymore.

I don’t feel like I want to blog anymore, and until that feeling comes back I won’t be blogging… simple as that.

I also have an idea I’m going to pursue, or at least try out and see what happens. But first I’m taking some time off this miserable wheel of (blog) misfortune.

Until next time, peace be with you!

Just What I Needed

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , on August 22, 2008 by Dankku

I’ll never figure it out. Sometimes stuff just happen coincidentally, but it’s kind of freaky when it happens.

Blogging; I love it, but I also dislike it.

All week I have been thinking about pressing the “delete blog” button, and I’ve really wanted to do it. I didn’t want to continue pouring my thoughts, ideas and expose my very soul out there for anybody to read. It just seems a bit pointless at times, and especially when day after day after week after year you have a maximum of 30-40 views a day (with exception to the one post that get so much attention it scares me), and not getting the interaction I’ve waited for for three years now. I’m not just quietly waiting, you’re wrong if you think that. I’m out there. I’m out there a lot. I post comments, and I promote my blog on various places, sites and forums, I’m in two of the biggest blog directories etc but nothing seems to help. My friends comment sometimes, of course, but that’s natural, and I thank you for that.

If you’re a follower of this blog, or a fan of Dankku you do not need to fear. I am not going to stop blogging and I will continue to be creative. And you all owe a big thank you to Mauritz.

He and I were talking today. I referred to an earlier post where I tried to get a rise out of people, and thought it might have been pointless since I have not that many readers. This is what he said, and why you need to say thank you:

“It is a shame since you’re an active blogger, and what you write has a certain kind of a standard that is worth more readers than you currently have.”

Thank you! I agree, and it confirms that sneaky suspicion I’ve had for three years now, that even I have something to say and sometimes I even manage to make a point. And it’s good reading.

Are you a frustrated blogger, too? Would you like to join my club? The spot for vice-president is up for grabs.

Nerd Factor Overload

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , on July 31, 2008 by Dankku

I’ve wanted to make this blogpost for a while, or at least since the week Firefox 3 was released. I like Firefox, but I’m not a Firefox fanboy like many Mozilla prophets. Some of you may know that when the sun has set and the streets are empty, Dankku puts his suit and mask on and becomes The Wannabe Nerd. I like to try out, and to play around with nerdy computer and Internet tools and toys.

So, this is what I’ve found while browsing:

Various tools.

  • Adblock Plus

Tired of all those ads and banners on millions of websites out there? Add this neat little thing and see them no more. If a page you frequently visit has one or more of those annoying ads, then simply klick them away and see them no more. Want to find out more? Click here.

  • Adblock Filterset Updater.

This is Adblocks partner, and works in sync with Adblock and Adblock Plus, and automatically updates the latest version. Get it here.

  • CustomizeGoogle

Enhance Google search results and get rid of ads and spam. Get it here.

  • DownloadHelper

Find yourself often watching videos, or do you watch one video over and over? Are there videos you desperately want for yourself? Then this is the tool for you. Click, download and save. Loads of formats available. Get it here.

  • Fast Dial

Opera users will know this one. Back when I used Opera I loved this feature, and apparently Mozilla saw the greatness of it and created a version of their own. Need an example? Watch mine here. Get this extension for yourself here.

  • Flashblock

Pretty self explanatory. This tool blocks those annoying flash things. I love this tool. It got rid of a lot of irritation, as there are tons of annoying flashing flash ads and badges and… shit out there. If you frequent a site that requires flash to work uninterrupted, like YouTube, you can simply allow Flashblock to show it. Get it here.

  • Foxytunes

I love this tool! Control any media player directly in your browser. I use this every day. Get it here.

  • Google Preview

Inserts website previews in Google and Yahoo search results. Get it here.

  • StumbleUpon

“StumbleUpon discovers web sites based on your interests, learns what you like and brings you more.” I’ve been using it for a long time and I love it, it’s awesome. Get it here.

  • Tweak Network

Need more speed? Well here’s your solution. But if you already use the Google Web accelerator don’t get this one as they will cancel each other out. Get Tweak Network here.

  • Undo Closed Tabs button

How often have you closed a tab and forgot where you were when you desperately needed it back? Fear no more, just add this neat little thing and undo your mistakes. Get it here.

  • URL Fixer

Type too fast and make loads of typos? Get this tool and it will automatically correct you. Get it here.

Social Tools

  • TwitterFox

I use Twitter. I like Twitter. I don’t want to log in to the Twitter site each time I have something I want to say, and if you don’t want that either then get this tool. Get it here.

  • TwittyTunes

This is a neat little friend of TwitterFox, and just as that one works this will let your friends know what you are listening to, or what site you are browsing or even what video you are watching… but only if you want them to know. A few easy clicks and it’s all out there. Get it here.

There are of course loads and loads more toys and tools to choose from, but these are the ones I like and use and know best. I hope you found something useful you need or want to get. And if you have anything cool or practical, or just simply fun you want to recommend to me then please drop me a comment.
